We hope this finds you and your loved ones happy and healthy. We are writing today for a few purposes. First, we wanted to share with you that we have finalized our collaboration with our Medway educators and have a plan in place to transition to remote learning for all of our students beginning Monday, April 13, 2020. Please see a video update from Gabby Abrams, Assistant Superintendent, and me on that and a few other topics. The video message to families can be found here. The video message that we created for students can be found here. (families, please make sure your child(ren) see this - thank you!)
We are incredibly appreciative of our educators who engaged thoughtfully with us through this process, keeping connection, wellness, and continued learning at the core. Tomorrow, we will be sending out to you the entire plan. It is quite lengthy and detailed. Please use it as a reference point to find information in the coming weeks and to help you understand the whole scope of this work. The communications that follow from building principals and classroom teachers will provide greater specificity as to how this plan will look for your child(ren) in their school(s).
Second, we are looking to gain your input on whether to keep our planned April school vacation week this year as scheduled (the week of Patriots’ Day, April 20), or use this week to continue the remote learning plan that we will initiate on April 13. The reason that this comes before you now is because of a recent change in guidance by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. We were informed on Friday, April 3, that if we continue with remote learning in lieu of April vacation (April 21-24) that these days will now count toward our school year requirement. We are looking for your input on the matter so that our school committee can make an informed decision on whether or not to adjust the school calendar. Please review both options and share your guidance via the link. We ask that you complete the survey by April 10 as we will use your feedback to inform our request (if desired) to the school committee. To share your preference, please click here.
Thank you for your participation in this quick survey and for your continued support. I will be back in touch with you tomorrow.
